But even more exciting is that tomorrow is Phase 2 for working on my yard. My yard started as a big pile of doggy poo laden lava rock mess 2 1/2 years ago when we bought the place and not much has been done with it since except a lot of trips to the dumpster shoveling out the doggy poo laden lava rock mess. But that was a year ago.
Recently, I tackled the whole monster again, dug out all the weeds, rototilled dirt, and generally prepped it for the real thing. And of course, destroyed my back in the process.
(Yard with weeds and a sundry of crap including stair rail on the deck)
Tomorrow we have a van rented (no trucks available) so we can buy gravel and sand for the path that I have planned out and hopefully some more landscape dirt and a bunch of 2x4's so I can build my raised planter.
But what's funny about tomorrow is that I have two "workers" who will be following all my orders. Having learned a hard lesson a few weeks ago, I will be leaving the heavy labor to Chris and Todd. They have both graciously agreed to do all this hard work under my watchful eye. And really, I'm not exactly an easy boss, so this is most gracious indeed. I'm very excited to see what progress we can make.
Not very runner-ey is this. Maybe I should start a new blog. I am trying though. I plan on doing Diablo in a few weeks. Short distance of course, and need to plan on an end of summer goal. I believe I still need to stick to 25K max for the rest of the year to allow my back to fully heal. That won't be very easy if I am able to comfortably hit 25K by the end of summer. I still love reading all the ultra blogs and being there with folks vicariously as they hit their highs and lows throughout their races. It's so fun and amazing to hear about. I really can't wait to get back to it, even as I slog through 5 milers wondering how in the hell I can ever make 31 miles or 50 ever again. I have my eye on the prize yet. :)
